Roni Catherine Lisenbe, 33, who is accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend, stated to the media Monday she was a victim of domestic violence.
“I want everybody to know that I only did this to save my own life,” Lisenbe said.
Springtown Police Department arrested Lisenbe Friday night after she reported to 911 that she had shot her boyfriend, Richard Graves, 38, according to NBC 5 news.
Graves later died in the emergency room of a local hospital, according to the medical examiner’s report.
“The suspect told Sheriff’s investigators a domestic dispute led to a physical altercation when Lisenbe retrieved a Glock 23 handgun and shot the victim in the abdomen,” Parker County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Danie Huffman said in a written statement.
