Fundraiser supporting memorial of Shania Gray

Shania Gray

A fundraiser has been started for a 16-year-old girl who tragically died from murder by a man accused of sexual assault in support of her family.

LaDonna York started a fundraiser for the memorial of Shania Gray in celebration of her life and to give monetary assistance to her mother, Sherry Gray-James, for expenses incurred during the funeral services and other needs as a result of her loss.

As of today, she has already raised $1,708 and the fundraiser goal is $10,000.

York said the young teen had a beautiful spirit with an extreme love for sports and Gray had accomplished a lot in her life.

“She was a beautiful young lady; her spirit could actually be felt, upon her touch,” York said.  “She was an avid sports gal, who excelled at all she attempted with very little effort.  She was proud of her accomplishments, but humble and gave the glory to God.”

The man charged with killing of Gray confessed to investigators and the news media about the murder.

Franklin Davis,30, shot and cruelly strangled Shania Gray in a secluded area near Campion Trail Park in Irving, Texas on Sept. 6.

Davis said he killed Gray to keep her from testifying against him during an upcoming trial where he had been charged with sexual assault of Gray on four separate occasions in 2010.  Davis now faces a capital murder charge. Read more about the story.
